Spexi’s 2024 Year in Review: A Look Back at a Monumental Year
As 2024 draws to a close, it’s hard not to feel a sense of awe and gratitude at what the Spexi community has accomplished together. For those of you who’ve been here from the beginning and those who joined us along the way, thank you for believing in the future of decentralized earth imaging. You’ve been pivotal in making this year extraordinary. Let’s take a moment to celebrate the milestones we’ve hit and the foundation we’ve built for an even brighter future.
We can confidently say the Spexi Network is the largest and fastest growing fully standardized drone imaging network on Earth.
$11.5M USD Series A: Confidence in Our Trajectory
This year, we closed an $11.5M USD Series A funding round from top-tier investors, bringing our total raised capital to $17M USD. This milestone is not only a major accomplishment but also a resounding vote of confidence in Spexi’s vision and trajectory. These funds will accelerate our growth, innovation, and ability to scale the Spexi Network globally.
Imaging over 1.4 Million Acres… and Counting
In just 12 months, we’ve imaged over 1.4 million acres of the earth, with off the shelf sub-250g drones, and all in VLOS flight rules—an achievement that underscores the power of the Spexi Network. This is only the beginning. The world is vast, and our network is primed to scale exponentially. Each acre represents a step closer to making high-resolution geospatial data accessible to all.
Over 160 Cities and Towns Fully Imaged on the Network
It has been incredible to see some the Earth’s largest cities get fully imaged by Spexi Network pilots in just weeks. Cities like Austin, Detroit, Miami, Kelowna, Chicago, Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa, and Las Vegas (just to name a few) were launched in 2024, and oh boy did pilots image them fast!
Growing the Spexi Discord Community: From 500 to 3,500
The Spexi Discord community grew from fewer than 500 members to over 3,500 in 2024. This growth reflects the passion and curiosity of drone pilots, technologists, and enthusiasts worldwide. Your engagement fuels us—from feedback on app updates to discussions about the future of DePIN (Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks).
Over 63,000 Drone Missions Flown
Our network’s pilots executed more than 63,000 drone missions (Spexigons) this year. These flights captured crucial data, supported enterprise customers, and showcased the immense potential of decentralized drone operations. This milestone proves that a demand-led approach to DePIN is not just possible—it’s the future.
Welcoming 27 Enterprise Customers
With 27 enterprise customers onboarded in 2024, the demand for high-quality, on-demand imagery is clear. From urban planning to environmental monitoring, these partnerships validate our mission and set the stage for expanding enterprise use cases in 2025.
Spexi World Viewer: A Glimpse into the Future
The Spexi World Viewer launched this year, offering a preview of what’s possible when decentralized networks meet cutting-edge visualization tools. Stay tuned as we continue refining this tool, bringing the full potential of our imagery to light.
Over 58,000 On-Chain Transactions
Blockchain technology remains a cornerstone of the Spexi Network. With more than 58,000 on-chain transactions recorded, we’re paving the way for transparency, security, and scalability. In 2025, we are excited about how blockchain networks can incentivize contributors in new ways leveraging the concept of digital ownership represented on chain.
Continuous App Enhancements
This year’s app updates reflect our commitment to empowering pilots with state-of-the-art tools. Features like terrain following, situational awareness, multiple mission types, and license verification have enhanced the Spexi experience, ensuring pilots can fly safely and efficiently.
Looking Ahead: 2025 and Beyond
We’re not hitting the brakes. Starting in January, we’ll launch over 12,000 Spexigons across Tampa, FL; Arlington, TX; Honolulu, HI; Nashville, TN; and Phoenix, AZ. We’re also expanding our reach with sample Spexigons in 50 additional North American cities and making our first moves outside the continent. We plan to have 30 major cities and 200 additional secondary cities live on the network this coming year!
2025 will be a pivotal year as we further decentralize the network, and new and exciting blockchain based incentives become reality. With your continued support, we’ll redefine what’s possible in geospatial data collection and access.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Here’s to a groundbreaking 2024 and an even more ambitious 2025!
