Kelowna, located in British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley, is a growing and vibrant city known for its stunning landscapes and strong community. As the city continues to expand, officials are committed to using innovative solutions to enhance urban management, improve public services, and support sustainable development.
Recognizing the value of Spexi’s aerial imagery in wildfire response, the City of Kelowna launched a larger initiative to capture high-resolution images of the entire city. Over the course of a few days, the Spexi Network successfully mapped approximately 11,000 acres, delivering critical data to city administrators within 12 hours of capture. This imagery became a valuable supplementary data source, enhancing operations across multiple city departments, including Bylaw Services, Building & Permitting, Infrastructure Operations, Development Engineering, Utility Services, and Community Safety Services. The partnership between Kelowna and Spexi demonstrated how advanced aerial imaging can streamline city operations, improve efficiency, and reduce costs. Kelowna’s use of this technology serves as a model for other municipalities looking to modernize their urban management strategies.
